Volunteering for the Bali Animal Welfare Association is one enjoyable way of helping animal welfare and a great way to spend your time while visiting Bali. We always have a need for both technical (Veterinary) and non technical (Non Veterinary) Volunteers. We are also always keen to hear from you if you feel you have a particular skill set that could assist us to capacity build our organization. In the main, our volunteers work at our clinic – this is where we need the most help. For safety reasons we limit the number of volunteers we have at the clinic at any one time. Our clinic is located about 10 minutes (by car) South of Ubud. We cannot transport volunteers to and from our clinic – sorry! We just don’t have the resources. What you can expect… BAWA is a relatively new organization; we employ local Indonesian and Balinese staff. It is important that you keep in mind that we do have limited resources and our clinic is not like a western veterinary clinic. Work standards may not be as high as you would be used to in your home country. We are slowly trying to work towards increasing our capacity to reach these standards. As a BAWA Clinic Volunteer you can expect to work hard, get very hot and sweaty and also enjoy the knowledge that you are contributing to the rehabilitation of injured and traumatized animals. You will be cleaning, doing the laundry, cooking the dogs food, feeding, assisting the veterinary staff, socializing the puppies and kittens, walking the adult dogs and then probably some more cleaning!! Our clinic has, on average, over 70 puppies and over 40 kittens at any one time. This makes for a very busy, and noisy, environment!! What we ask of you…
If you are interested in applying to be a volunteer for BAWA Complete and submit the BAWA Volunteer Application OR Call +62 (0) 361 977217 to set up an appointment and bring the completed forms and a copy of your vaccination history along when you come to meet us. Veterinary Volunteers If you are a vet or vet nurse with current qualifications and at least two years of experience there is so much you can help us with. Vets and vet nurses will gain a wealth of veterinary experience at BAWA as we run on basic equipment and diagnostic materials. Tropical diseases, distemper, rabies, road traffic accidents and snake bites are just a few of our daily cases. The programs, procedures and protocols used by BAWA have been developed with the assistance of many international veterinarians and take into account the peculiarities of carrying out veterinary practice in Bali.
