NEEDED! A Home For Daisy and Rex

Dogs and Cats are NOT Allowed to Enter or Leave Bali

Often, life just isn't fair.

While making their plans to return home to America, after spending two years in Bali, the Brant family discovered that despite doing much research and believing it was possible to take them home, due to the Rabies outbreak on Bali they will not be able to bring home their two rescue cats, Daisy and Rex. Devastated, they contacted BAWA for help.

Please. If you are a cat lover, open your heart and home to these two beautiful personalities. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. directly for more information and to make an appointment.

Daisy and Rex need a loving home.

Daisy, the definition of a spoiled princess.

daisiynminiDaisy is a year and a half old, sleek, soft, and svelte, female Bali cat. Daisy was the first cat to enter the Brants life in Bali only a few months after they arrived. This is her rescue story according to Mr. Brant:

At around 7pm, I went into the kitchen to prepare dinner. From the street in front of the house I heard what sounded like a baby crying. As our streets are usually pretty noisy, I ignored the sounds for ten or fifteen minutes, until it intensified from crying to screeching. Curious, I went out front.

After my eyes adjusted to the darkness, I saw two dogs with an obvious murderous interest in the neighbor's smoking but not yet burning trash pile. I grabbed the keys to the gate, unlocked it, shooed away the dogs, and took a closer look. There, amongst the trash bags, old rice, rotten offerings (this IS Bali) bottles, plastic forks, wax paper, leaves, and rotten fruit, was the smallest, ugliest, most pathetic little kitten I had ever seen - and I've seen a few. The kitten appeared to be completely blind and sick, with puss dripping from its closed eye lids (were there eyes in there?), malnourished and on its way to being worm food - but was still fighting. She swatted the air blindly, hoping to land a claw in a dog's nose, and screeched defiantly; as loud as her lungs would let her.sleepy_daisy2

She was (in my estimate) only three weeks old or so and very very sick; sick enough that my wife and I expected her to be dead by morning. But, we took her in and cleaned her up. She drank milk with egg untill she couldn't walk and fell asleep on my t-shirt in a box in our bedroom. The next morning, we woke to sounds of her trying to leap to the top of the box!

daisy1Needless to say, Daisy lived. Her lungs and vocabulary are what saved her as I heard her from the kitchen. She still has those lungs and vocabulary. She likes to cat around outside all day, playing with the neighbor kids and sitting on roof tops. She comes home at lunch time and at dinner time, announcing her arrival with her beautiful loud voice if the door is shut. Daisy is fairly moody though and needs someone experienced with cats. When she is annoyed, she lets you know it. But, she is a great bed companion, will sleep through the night (unless she wants to lick you as a "thanks!" for allowing her in) without prowling around or being a pest.

Daisy can be moody and doesn't hesitate to let you know that she doesn't like something. But, she is all hiss and no bite. She also has a sensitive stomach, and preffers moist food.

Rex, a lazy loving dog of a cat.

Rex doesn't come with the dramatic rescue story. True to his nature, his adoption into the Brant family was much more civilized.

fatboyWe were downstairs having lunch. Daisy was outside running around and the neighborhood kids were playing in our trees. We heard a few strange to us "meows" at the door and went to see who it was. Sitting on the threshold was a 5 or 6 week old kitten. He looked up at us and sat patiently. Unusual for a Bali cat, he didn't run away or try to get inside. After a few minutes, we asked him to come in - and he did! Rex has been with us ever since.

Rex remains unique. If he were a human, he would be the dorky kid who likes to sit on the couch and play video games. He is overweight (ok, he's fat!) and has been on a diet. He is somewhere between beautiful and adorable and gets more handsome everyday. He has the best personality we have ever experienced in any cat, anywhere. He loves to snuggle, he will hug you around your neck, you can use him as a pillow, and he would rather be with people than outside.jungle_rex

Please, Come See Us!

Both Daisy and Rex are fully vaccinated and altered. The Brants would like you to come by and see if you are a fit for the cats before agreeing to take them home. They aren't leaving Bali until April, so you have a little time left.

ALSO! They will be leaving their 3 bedroom house in Renon, so if you are looking for a house to rent and cats to love, this is the perfect situation for you.

Please. If you are a cat lover, open your heart and home to these two beautiful personalities. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. directly for more information and to make an appointment.
