This year's Bali Dog Idol (BDI), hosted by local Yayasan Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA), will harness the opportunity to educate participants and their families in rabies awareness and prevention.
BDI is an interactive animal welfare challenge, open to local residents who have adopted puppies or dogs from BAWA. Over a six-month period, contestants are assessed on the care they have taken of their pets – with judging based on overall health, physical appearance, as well as the dog's temperament, connection with it's owner and receptiveness to training.

We are happy to announce that Daisy and Rex, a soon to be homeless pair of Balinese cats, have found a home! To read their story, click here.
To the Brant's and BAWA's great relief, Daisy and Rex are now under the care of Randy and Bella Knall, long time residents of Bali and owners of Villas123. After only three days, Daisy and Rex have settled into their new digs without incident. Rex being his usual gregarious self has already enticed local strays to come and relax at the Knall's villa in Jimbaran and Daisy has found her way on to Randy's pillow at night. Even the Knall's 11 month old son Achilles has taken a liking to the furry pair and has no problems letting them snuggle up to him for an afternoon nap. Thank you Randy, Bella, and Achilles! |

Spend a Dollar, Buy a Collar and Save a Dog - By Ima Deville |

Let’s solve rabies together. The Bali Animal Welfare Association (BAWA) is thinking fast and trying to find solutions to the problem of rabies in Bali. Their new campaign shows that rabies can be controlled and eradicated in a relatively short time frame and with an affordable amount of money. Since the BA Alternative Voice article of April 22, 2009, questionable government practices to solve the rabies problem have become more commonly used and BAWA’s “Spend a Dollar, Buy a Collar and Save a Dog” campaign is a attempt at mobilizing everyone on the island and possibly from outside its borders

NEEDED! A Home For Daisy and Rex
BAWA has several animals awaiting adoption. But, every once in a while, a very special case pops up. This is one of those times.
Often, life just isn't fair. While making their plans to return home to America, after spending two years in Bali, the Brant family discovered that despite doing much research and believing it was possible to take them home, due to the Rabies outbreak on Bali they will not be able to bring home their two rescue cats, Daisy and Rex. Devastated, they contacted BAWA for help.
