BAWA Barks!™
Looking for a Happy Ending
Hi everyone! My name is Media and I’m at BAWA’s Media Department. I will be the one updating Special Notes from Janice from now on, as she will share her stories through me. And yes, Media really is my name.
If you are wondering why Janice’s blog has been pretty quiet these days, it is because Janice hasn’t had the time to share her daily updates, although there are still a lot of them. She is very busy preparing her leaving for United States for three weeks to visit her mother who is 84 years old and lives alone. She is more stressed though about leaving all of her dogs and animals both at her house and the office, and those on the streets. So we’re preparing to get everybody extensive training and information about where all of Janice’s street dogs are located. Any of you here in Bali who wants to donate your time to street feeding, please contact us. The dogs are quite used to being fed now and it really is their only source of daily sustenance.
And now on to Janice’s note.
Yesterday morning driving the way to the office, feeding on the side of the road, Janice saw a dog that had its eye pretty much popping out of the socket. Janice initially thought it was cherry eye, which was treatable, but apparently there was a lot of blood and trauma around the wound. Through the children in the area, she managed to find where the dog lived. We sent back the ambulance later in the day to get the dog and bring it to our clinic. It turns out that the dog actually needs quite extensive surgery; it needs to have an eye amputation. So Janice elected to send it to drh. (Vet) Listriani’s clinic that is renowned for surgery. BAWA pays for all the treatments using donations we receive from you, BAWA friends. So your donations are really life saving, and anyone who can donate towards the surgery of this dog will be greatly appreciated. The children and family really loved the dog; they just didn’t know what to do or how to treat it.
Hopefully this will be one of the sad stories that have a happy ending!
Thank you for your kind support.
